Depuis son studio de Brooklyn, Christina Zimpel fait proliférer un univers inopiné absolument réjouissant. Ses peintures à l’encre, à l’acrylique ou à l’huile, déclinent des aplats chatoyants sous un trait naïf. Formes franches et couleurs vives s’associent dans des compositions dont l’élégance ne va pas sans rappeler les harmonies graphiques des peintres fauves qu’elle admire.
Lancée en 2018 par la réalisation des portraits des 30 nominés pour la cérémonie des CFDA Awards à New York, Christina Zimpel a depuis collaboré avec différentes maisons de mode pour la réalisation de collections capsules, set design, décoration d’intérieur, design textile, packagings, et a publié dans les Vogue américain, britannique et australien, Allure Magazine, et le Sydney Morning Herald…
Le travail de Christina Zimpel est largement exposé à l’occasion d’expositions individuelles et collectives, de foires et de résidences à Bruxelles, Londres, Aalborg, Sydney, Miami et Los Angeles.
From her Brooklyn studio, Christina Zimpel proliferates an unexpected universe that is absolutely delightful. Her paintings, in ink, acrylic or oil, feature shimmering flat tints under naïve strokes. Straightforward shapes and vivid colors combine in compositions whose elegance is reminiscent of the graphic harmonies of the Fauvist painters she admires.
